Bio

I have had a camera in my hand since early childhood, receiving
my first SLR at age 11. Since then, with a few detours for college
and law school, I have always carried my camera everywhere. You
never know when that special shot will present itself.
After devoting 20 years to my elder law practice, I found out that
I had ovarian cancer. During my chemotherapy treatments I could
not practice law, but I could take pictures. I joined the Tidewater
Camera Club, Friday Morning Artists, and took classes with Sahm
Sefton and Jim Amos. These very experienced and knowledgeable photographers
not only gave me the practical knowledge of how to use my camera
to a much fuller extent, they also taught me to see in a different
way. This gave me the encouragement I needed to not only get through
my illness and the chemo, but to realize that I had a talent that
had never been fully explored before. I now shoot mostly black
and white and develop and print my own pictures.
And, I am in remission.
